Krishnamurti Inspired Leisure & Learning Retreat
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Is transformation possible in ordinary, everyday life?
Many modern spiritual and non-dual approaches offer comfort by pointing us toward a pre-existing “god or love within.” Krishnamurti, however, offers no such cushion. He points instead to a stark, immediate reality: the profound lack of love, compassion, and right relationship in our lives, which is in dire need of our urgent attention. He is pointing at a fundamental revolution in the entire way we live – both individually and collectively.
In this light, there is little point in inquiring into the mere outward adjustments or gradual personal improvements so popular in society today. This is not self-help, personal development or spiritual enlightenment. K speaks about giving all our energy “to bring about a deep, inward transformation or revolution.”
For these few days together – gathering in this beautiful and peaceful place – our group will examine this topic as it directly applies to our everyday lives. We are not gathering to understand, accept, repeat, or better adhere to Krishnamurti’s insights. Our dialogue together is not an invitation to speculate on any radical change; it is a shared, careful inquiry into the clear, immediate, and absolute necessity for it.
“The crisis is not in the outer world, but in consciousness itself. And until we understand this crisis, not superficially, not according to some philosopher, but actually deeply understand it for ourselves by looking into it and examining it, we shall not be able to bring about a change. We are concerned with psychological revolution and this revolution can only take place when there is the right kind of relationship between human beings.”
J. Krishnamurti
